Forty-Three Named to Beach Collegiate Team

The 2020 U.S. Beach Collegiate National Team has been announced, and it includes twenty-nine women and fourteen men from various colleges and universities nationwide. These talented athletes were nominated by their coaches and selected based on their collegiate rankings.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the team’s training plans are currently on hold. The head coach for the women’s team is Barbra Fontana, a 1996 Olympian and renowned beach volleyball high-performance coach. Assisting her are Hector Gutierrez, head coach of Texas Christian beach volleyball, and Russell Brock, head coach of Louisiana State beach volleyball.

For the men’s teams, John Mayer, a former U.S. National Team member and Loyola Marymount beach volleyball head coach, has been appointed as the head coach. He will be assisted by Riley Salmon, a two-time Olympian and 2008 gold medalist, who is also the head men’s volleyball coach at the University of Jamestown.
