U.S. Men’s Volleyball Team Opens Paralympic Games with Match Against Brazil


The U.S. Paralympic Men’s Volleyball Team kicked off their journey in the 2016 Paralympic Games with a match against Brazil. In the opening match, the U.S. Team Captain Eric Duda from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Roderick Green from West Monroe, Louisiana, and J. Dee Marinko from Guthrie, Oklahoma, each scored six points, showing their determination on the court. On the Brazilian side, Anderson Ribas da Silva and Frederico Doria de Souza led the team with 18 and 14 points respectively. Brazil recorded 31 kills while the U.S. had 22, and Brazil also out-blocked the Americans 18-6. However, the U.S. team showed strength by limiting their errors to 17, compared to Brazil’s 22 unforced errors.

Despite the tough loss, Head Coach Greg Walker commended his team’s ability to adjust and follow instructions throughout the match.
