U.S. Girls Youth Blank Barbados

The U.S. Girls’ Youth National Team (GYNT) showcased their skills and teamwork in a dominant sweep against Barbados during the NORCECA Women’s U18 Continental Championship in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The American team’s balanced offense and impressive performance resulted in a 3-0 victory (25-13, 25-8, 25-11).

A Balanced Offense Leads to Victory

The GYNT proved their strength as a team with 10 players contributing to the scoring. Haley Warner, from Fayetteville, Arkansas, led the team with five kills and four aces, totaling nine points. Skylar Fields, from Missouri City, Texas, showcased her skills with five kills, two aces, and a block, contributing eight points to the team’s victory. Kendall Kipp, Logan Eggleston, Brooklyn Schirmer, and Mia Grunze also made significant contributions to the team’s success, each scoring six points through kills and aces.

Dominant Performance in Each Set

The U.S. team displayed their dominance from the start, securing a 25-13 victory in the opening set. They continued their impressive form in the second and third sets, with significant leads of 12-3 and 16-5, respectively. The final scores of 25-8 and 25-11 reflected the team’s exceptional performance.

The GYNT is comprised of 12 talented players born in 2000 or 2001, all making their debut in an international NORCECA or FIVB tournament. This young and promising team has their sights set on repeating their success in previous tournaments and earning a spot in next year’s age-group FIVB World Championship.

The NORCECA Women’s U18 Continental Championship is a biennial event that brings together top youth volleyball teams from North, Central America, and the Caribbean. The top team from each pool will advance directly to the semifinals. The second-place and third-place teams will compete in crossover quarterfinals for a chance to secure a spot in the semifinals.
