U.S. Collegiate National Team-Thailand Tour

The U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team – Thailand Tour (CNT-Thailand) showcased their skill and determination as they defeated the Thai National Team with a thrilling 22-25, 26-24, 22-25, 25-21, 15-10 victory. This triumph came as part of their training and competition tour in Bangkok. The CNT-Thailand roster consists of talented athletes who were selected through the U.S. Women’s National Team Open Tryouts held at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Impressive Performances by CNT-Thailand Athletes

Several athletes stood out with their outstanding performances during the match. Opposite player Yaasmeen Bedart-Ghani from the University of Texas, Los Angeles, led the team with an impressive 19 points, showcasing her skills in the first two sets and making a significant impact in the fifth set. Jordan Thompson from the University of Cincinnati, Edina, Minnesota, displayed her prowess with 12 points, including 10 kills and two blocks. Chiaka Ogbogu from the University of Texas, Coppell, Texas, also made a valuable contribution with 12 points, featuring eight kills, three aces, and a block.

The CNT-Thailand team demonstrated their strength as a unit, with all 12 players on the roster starting at least two sets. The team’s cohesive performance enabled them to out-block the Thai National Team 17-8 and secure a 63-54 advantage in kills. The Americans showcased their offensive prowess with a 46 percent attack conversion rate and an impressive hitting efficiency of .326, while also limiting the Thai squad to a .186 hitting efficiency. In terms of aces, the U.S. held a slim 9-8 margin.

Exciting Future Matches

While the team’s match with Bangkok Glass Professional Team on May 24 has been canceled, the CNT-Thailand tour will conclude with matches against the Thai National Team scheduled for May 25 and May 29. These matches will take place at 4 p.m. Thai Time at the FIVB Development Center in Bangkok.
