Twelve Athletes Earn Bids to International Tournaments

Two recent trials for the Beach National Team Development Program (NTDP) in Hermosa Beach, California, have concluded, and the results are in. Twelve talented athletes have earned the opportunity to represent USA Volleyball at international tournaments later this year. Let’s dive into the details!

FISU World University Championship

Four teams have secured their spots to compete at the FISU World University Championship in Maceio, Brazil, from September 6-10. The gold and silver medalists from the Beach World University Championship trials, Maddie Anderson/Lexy Denaburg and Hailey Harward/Julia Scoles, respectively, will both be representing the United States. Anderson/Denaburg emerged victorious in a thrilling three-set match (28-26, 9-21, 18-16), securing their place in the tournament. It’s worth mentioning that the U.S. has two entries in the competition, allowing both pairs to show their skills on the international stage.

Beach World University Championship

In the men’s bracket, Charlie Siragusa/Wyatt Harrison and Sebastian Rodriguez/Jack Walmer have earned their spots to compete at the Beach World University Championship. Siragusa/Harrison staged an impressive comeback in the finals, winning 2-1 (12-21, 21-12, 15-10) to secure their place in the tournament. This will be a fantastic opportunity for them to showcase their talent.

Beach U21 National Team Trials

Maddie Anderson competed at last year’s Beach U21 National Team trials, but due to injury, Lexy Denaburg was unable to participate in the FIVB Beach U21 World Championships. As for the seven other members of the World University Championship (WUC) team, this will be their international debut. It’s an exciting moment for these talented athletes as they step onto the global stage.

U19 FIVB Beach World Championship Trials

Moving on to the U19 category, two teams have emerged victorious in the U19 FIVB Beach World Championship Trials. Ashley Pater/Myriah Massey claimed the top spot in the Girls bracket, defeating Sophie Kubiak/Bailey Showalter 2-0 (21-17, 21-17) in the gold medal match. With their win, Pater and Massey will proudly represent their country at the U19 Beach World Championship in Dikili, Turkey, from September 14-18.

In the Boys bracket, Ayden Keeter/Tread Rosenthal secured their place in the tournament after a thrilling showdown against Thomas Hurst/Caleb Blanchette. Keeter/Rosenthal emerged victorious with a score of 2-1 (19-21, 22-20, 15-7). Keeter brings valuable international experience to the team, having competed in the U21 Beach World Championships last year. Hurst also brings international experience, having played in the 2021 U19 Beach World Championships. They will add depth and knowledge to the team, pending a second berth being granted.

Final Thoughts

With these twelve athletes earning their bids to international tournaments, the future looks bright for USA Volleyball. Their hard work, dedication, and talent have paid off, and now they have the opportunity to represent their country on the global stage. We wish them the best of luck and hope they bring home success and pride for Team USA!
