Newman-Gonchar Named U.S. Women’s Assistant Coach


The U.S. Women’s National Team has announced the appointment of Jon Newman-Gonchar as a consultant coach. Newman-Gonchar, currently an assistant coach at the University of Arkansas women’s volleyball program, will be working with Team USA from May through the end of the FIVB World Grand Prix.

Winning gold in 2015 and bronze in 2016, he has proven his ability to guide teams to victory. In addition to coaching, he also served as the U.S. team leader for the 2016 Pan American Cup.

Newman-Gonchar’s coaching career began in 2007 with the USA Volleyball High Performance pipeline. Over the years, he has worked with various national teams and has been a training coach for the U.S. Women’s Junior National Team.
